Reception Class

Welcome to Maple Class!

Reception:

In Reception we follow the Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum.  The children develop their skills across 3 prime areas of learning:

  • Communication and Language,
  • Physical Development,
  • Personal, social and emotional development.

Children also develop skills in the following specific areas of learning:

  • Literacy
  • Mathematics,
  • Understanding of the world,
  • Expressive arts and design.

Children are allowed to make choices and get the opportunity to direct their own learning.  This helps them to develop their learning characteristics in the following areas:

  • Playing and exploring,
  • Active learning,
  • Creating and thinking critically.

Year 1:

Reception New Intake 2020/2021

We are delighted that your child will be joining us in September and we are very much looking forward to welcoming you all to our school over the coming months.

We would like to assure you that, despite these challenging times, we are planning your child’s transition into school carefully and thoughtfully so that they start Reception feeling confident, excited and inspired to love, learn and grow at Our Lady's!

You will be receiving a Reception Induction Pack from us in due course; this pack will contain information about the different ways that we plan to support your child’s transition to Reception. We will also be regularly updating this page with useful information and documents relating to your child's transition. Look out for emails regarding invitations for zoom meetings for further transitions and opportunities for your child to get to know their teachers.
